Ecohouse of Bogotá: Vertical garden in Colombia

Bogotá, Colombia

We present you the vertical garden of the Ecohouse Building. It is made up of two gardens with northern and southern orientations, that set up a whole of 210 m2. 6,500 plants of tropical undergrowth were used here and which belong to 16 families, most of them native.

The main difficulty of these vertical ecosystems were the large windows on the facade, what was solved carrying out a detailed study of the irrigation system, all this on a large-scale framework that allowed the precision work on the highest areas of the green wall. The main function of this vegetal facade is to give a finishing touch to the side façades of the building in order to generate a natural environment and to make the most of the vertical garden for the building.

This vertical ecosystem was the result of the collaboration between Groncol and Paisajismo Urbano and it will generate oxygen for 210 people, will trap 27 kilos of dust per year, will be able to filter 140 tones of harmful gases and will have the potential to process 52 kg of heavy metals.
